The Sealed World MiniDV, Colour, With Sound, 6 Mins Approx, 2009 Mist parts to reveal two young women seated
in an overgrown garden surrounded by wild flowers. Detached from the
outside world they transform everyday activities into private rituals
of mysterious, esoteric, design. The Sealed World features an original soundtrack by acclaimed musician Abi Fry, whose previous work includes collaborations with: British Sea Power, Bat For Lashes, The Flowers of Hell, Euchrid Eucrow and Jacob's Stories. Crime Scene HDV, B&W, With Sound, 9 Mins Approx, 2007 A gang of noir villains enacts a brutal and stylised final scene staging a formalised ritual of death and betrayal on a blank set drained of colour and emotion. Crime Scene features a soundtrack by Brighton-based saxophonist Ross Mason. Terrain Vague Super-8, Silent, Colour, 19 Mins Approx, 2000 Terrain Vague opens on the aftermath of a violent scene the action having taken place before the film begins. The film then builds in anticipation of another violent encounter but, when it does come, the camera focuses on architectural details of the surrounding area rather than on the confrontation that is supposedly taking place. Most of the film comprises the space separating these two frustrating incidents a limbo of suspended narrative. |
